Make your very own oil painting with an accomplished painter!
As you travel to the little store Mr. Pogna set up over 10 years ago, you’ll see a great number of painting and craft stores on the way. Today, this road is a popular street for artists to showcase their beautiful artwork. Back in the year 2000, when he first arrived in Siem Reap, Angkor, this little street was nothing but bare land. Despite this, he decided to build a hut, and became the first artist who set up shop on this street. At present, Mr. Pogna has mentored over 40 students, with each apprentice training for over 2 years.
Oil painting is no easy feat, however, with proper guidance and knowledge of the basic techniques you will be able to create something you can be proud of. There are no skill requirements, and he accepts students of all levels. Mr. Pogna and his students will guide you in every step of the way, ensuring you leave with not only a beautiful piece of artwork, but the sense of accomplishment and knowledge that you too can create beautiful works of art!
This is a great opportunity to learn from a true master at his craft, and not just take home an unforgettable experience, but also take home a personalised gift worthy of going on your wall.
About the Host
After the fall of the Khmer Rouge in 1979, Mr. Pogna was born in Battambang, a small province in northwestern Cambodia. During this time, life in Cambodia was an immense struggle. The Khmer Rouge had previously abolished all forms of education by burning books and executing teachers and people of intellect. With no access to education as a young boy, Mr. Pogna turned to art during his free time. What was once a hobby later became his daily passion when he was accepted into Phomin Fine Arts University when he was 17. After his 4 years of University, he decided to move to Siem Reap, Angkor in the year 2000. Here he started his own art gallery and has been painting and mentoring students ever since.
