Sample the local cuisine and do it to support a good cause!
Explore the charm of historic downtown Yangon the best way possible – through the food stalls found along the neatly arranged, easily navigated streets that span from 1st to 57th street.
Starting from the road encircling Sule Pagoda, we eat our way through the Indian and Chinese districts with Sang, our food expert! The street food of Yangon is distinctively different from other Southeast Asian cities due to the long-standing Indian and Chinese influences (stemming from Myanmar’s geographical position between the two nations), mixed in with traditional Burmese cuisines.
This street food tour has a twist! The cost you pay for the food tour goes to funding a school for street children that was founded by Sang, David, and a very dedicated team of local volunteers who teach at the school 5 times a week in the evenings.
Street food has a special place in the team’s heart. The idea of starting an informal school was seeded & took off almost immediately the day after they were approached by a street child who begged them for money. Instead of giving him money, they asked if he was keen to study. The child replied ‘YES’. And on the following day, classes started at the informal school with makeshift tables and whiteboards. It has been a year since.
The street food tour will help provide an additional, and we hope, a sustainable stream of funds to support their work. Join us for a street food tour with a cause!

About the Host
This is a collaboration between Actxplorer & Sang + David, and the rest of the team behind the school for street children in Yangon. We hope that the street food tour will help create a new channel of funds to sustain the efforts to provide educational access for these children.
