Trash to Treasure in Dala

Have a hand in turning plastic trash into your own treasure.

The over-consumption, usage, and improper disposal of plastics is a problem of epic proportion all around the world. ChuChu seeks to give plastic wastes generated in Yangon city a new lease of life, and in the process create new job opportunities for women in different parts of Myanmar. Raw materials are sourced by each producing family that ChuChu trains and works with, from their own surroundings and also through collaborating with existing collectors. Most of their materials come from dumps, streets, shops, and markets – key wastes producing spaces.

In collaboration with Actxplorer, ChuChu is opening up a unique opportunity for you to learn about the recycling and upcycling of wastes in Myanmar, and have a hand at turning trash into treasure that you’ll get to bring home.

All the proceeds from the workshop goes to the training of local women to work with recycled materials and to also help upgrade their skills in handicraft!

Price includes 2-way transport cost from Dala Ferry Terminal to ChuChu’s workshop. Motorbike/Trishaw (whichever you’re comfortable with) will be arranged for you and your travelling mates. Price does not include the ferry ticket to & from Pansodan Ferry Terminal to Dala Ferry Terminal. 2-way ferry ticket cost 5000kyat (USD3.80) per person; it can be bought at the terminal.
