Learn how to work in a hawker food stall in this special program!
The mission of Dignity Kitchen is “To build and return the dignity to the disadvantaged and disabled through vocation with passion“. They have been providing the disadvantaged with first class training to provide them with better opportunities so that they can be able to succeed in their own right.
Cook/Bake & Serve is just one of the few social outreach programs that aim to not only create awareness of the issues at hand, but also teach humility and service to our elders. They do this in a fun and unique way through the one thing all Singaporeans love, FOOD!
You will be taught basic food hygiene and safety before being attached to your respective food stalls (Bakery or Dim Sum). Here you watch and learn from the masters at work in preparing all the necessary ingredients for the meal before you try it yourself! When it’s time for lunch, you will cook and serve 40 elderly folk as part of Dignity Kitchen’s “Lunch Treat for the Elderly” program.
This is a great family or group activity suitable for all ages, with the aim of having participants engage with people with disabilities and the elderly. In fact, you might learn a thing or two from them!
